All Ancestors have a story to tell

When you look a photo of your ancestor, if you are lucky enough to have one, what does it tell you? How is your ancestor dressed, what period of clothing, rags or riches. What was the occasion for the photo? Was it a marriage, coming of age, death? Black and White or a color photo? All these things can give you a peek into the life of your ancestor.

What do the following photos tell you?

Siblings Jane (Newman )Smith and her brother from Canada William Newman/ Smith
WW1 taken when he was on leave in Birmingham, England.
Party at my Grandma Smith’s in the basement, possibly New Year’s due to streamer held in hands, Al and Anne Smith. Possibly late 1940’s early 1950’s, see the wringer washing machine in background.
Three cousins meeting for the first time and having tea in Melbourne, Australia,
Cathy Smith Miller, Christine Smith Montgomery and Carmen Borg.
Third cousins meeting in Florida for the first time, laying hands on a chest of their second great grandfather, Lorenz Mueller. Mark Miller, Ed Allison, and Donna (Miller) Turi

All these photos are telling us something, we just need to look deeper into it.

What can our ancestors tell us? That chest, just above, has German newspapers glued in it.

Just saying…
